In my oil paintings, I strive to capture expressions and moods; sometimes revealed in a fleeting expression or by placing a person in situations that tells a story about their experience and responses to the world around them.
Since childhood, drawing and painting the faces of family and friends always fascinated me. The complexity of facial expressions and body language continues to fascinate and deeply engage me, glimpses of which I try to render in the images I create.
Graduating from art college with an illustration degree, I went on to work as a computer games artist. This came to a natural break when I left to look after my young children. Whilst it was a wonderful job, the chance to capture and create portraits is something that I feel passionate about and feel compelled to pursue.
